Excel sure has changed. What started out as a screwdriver is now a power tool.
Which is great because you can do so many things you couldn’t do in the past.

But it also raises a question:

In working with professionals every day, I can tell you the answer is a resounding “No.”

We have these incredible tools available… Excel, Power Query, DAX, Power BI… and Microsoft keeps rolling more off the conveyor belt. But who is teaching us how to use them?

There are books, training, and of course short videos on YouTube. But none of these, we’ve found, do a good enough job of 1) Teaching all the features, and 2) Doing it in a down-to-earth, accessible way.

That’s why, when we created our courses, we decided to take a different approach.

First, we provide an easy on-ramp to data power tools like Excel and Power BI. Most training leads with the super techie stuff, which scares people off. We start with the simple stuff. That way, our students get quick wins and gain confidence. Only then do we take you deeper (and believe me, I can get as advanced as anyone).

Second, we use real life examples. Let’s be honest – the real world is messy. How many times have you watched an Excel training and thought, “Yeah, I wish my data were that clean & organized!”

I come from the trenches of industry. I know your day-to-day is chaotic and messy. That’s why our training courses assume you’re working in the real world – not in some laboratory under pristine conditions.

Third, we look at the big picture. For example, in our Excel PowerPivot course (a favorite among our students), we don’t just teach PowerPivot and DAX. Instead, we show you how to pull multiple skills together and create a fully functioning Dashboard.

My career journey began as an Economist in Canada. I then moved to Austria and went into business consulting where I worked extensively with SAP and Oracle systems.
